{"id":2534,"date":"2025-03-03T23:19:45","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T23:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2534"},"modified":"2025-03-03T23:19:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T23:19:45","slug":"middletowns-cat-barriga-honored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2534","title":{"rendered":"Middletown&#8217;s Cat Barriga honored"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>She receives Pursuing Victory with Honor award while competing at state championships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MIDDLETOWN &gt;&gt; Middletown High School senior Cat Barriga is a recipient of the Pursuing Victory with Honor award after competing in the CIF State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield last weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barriga, the North Coast Section third-place medalist at 105 pounds this season, qualified for the state championships and won her first match before dropping the next two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pursing Victory with Honor award is based on six core principles \u2013 trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the CIF, these individuals also possess impeccable character and excellent sportsmanship. They are hard-working, reliable and supportive teammates and are ambassadors for their sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coaches nominate wrestlers for the award.
