{"id":2208,"date":"2025-02-05T20:40:37","date_gmt":"2025-02-05T20:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2208"},"modified":"2025-02-05T20:40:37","modified_gmt":"2025-02-05T20:40:37","slug":"hooten-pena-claim-first-place-medals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2208","title":{"rendered":"Hooten, Pena claim first-place medals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>CORE wrestlers bring home several medals from Enter the Den tourney in Ukiah<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UKIAH &gt;&gt; Wyatt Hooten and Amazing Pena won their weight classes Sunday as the CORE Wrestling Club brought home plenty of hardware from the Enter the Den tournament in Ukiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hooten won the 64-pound division for grades 2 and 3 while Pena topped the field in the 110-pound division for grades 4 and 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second-place medals went to Eric Holley, who double bracketed in both the 49-pound and 52-pound divisions; to Hooten, who also double bracketed, in the 67-pound division for grades 2 and 3; to Tucker Heywood in the 90-pound division for grades 4 and 5; and Georgia Emerson in the 128-pound girls middle school division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earning third-place medals were Kholton Downey in the 49-pound division for grades kindergarten and first; to Jesse Taylor Jr. in the 52-pound division for grades kindergarten and first; and to Andrew Reams in the 100-pound division for grades 4 and 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fourth-place honors went to Logan Olivares in the 46-pound division for grades kindergarten and first; and to Hannah Oweis in the 90-pound division for grades 4 and 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCORE Wrestling had a great tournament,\u201d CORE coach Pedro Garrido said. \u201cStandouts were Ryder White Eagle, who had multiple tough matches and showed he is improving his wrestling game, and Wyatt Hooten, who is showing off his impressive pinning combination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Added coach Daniel Cuellar, \u201cAmazing Pena had a 7-0 battle, which is good for him for learning how to fight through a whole match.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"253\" height=\"409\" src=\"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2210\" style=\"width:264px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-21.png 253w, https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-21-186x300.png 186w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Being on opposing teams hasn&#8217;t interfered with the friendship of Jameson Philpot (left) of the Gladiators Wrestling Club and Eric Holley of CORE Wrestling Club.
