{"id":2064,"date":"2025-01-23T17:54:17","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T17:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2064"},"modified":"2025-01-23T17:54:17","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T17:54:17","slug":"broncos-a-b-teams-defeat-lancers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=2064","title":{"rendered":"Broncos A, B teams defeat Lancers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Middletown Middle School girls squads close in undefeated league seasons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KELSEYVILLE &gt;&gt; Anaya Kilstrom led the way with 10 points and eight rebounds as the Middletown Middle School A girls basketball team defeated Mountain Vista Middle School 38-28 on Wednesday evening in Kelseyville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown (7-0 league, 12-2 overall) built a 22-9 halftime lead before wavering a bit in the final minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe got a little sloppy with the ball and had too many turnovers toward the end of the game, allowing them to get back in it,\u201d Middletown head coach Shannon Williams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe never trailed in the game,\u201d Williams said. \u201cOur biggest lead was 20 points.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaquelin Nunez finished with nine points and Emma Davis had six points and five rebounds as the Broncos closed in on a perfect regular season. They finish their league schedule Thursday night in Upper Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOverall, it was a very well-rounded effort with nearly every player contributing with scoring and excellent defense all around,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJaquelin Nunez really shined tonight,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grace Williams led the team with nine steals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br>B team wins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown\u2019s B team also beat Mountain Vista, though the Broncos needed overtime to do it. Sophia Azevedo scored all six of Middletown\u2019s points in the overtime of a 28-23 victory. She finished with a team-high 17 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMountain Vista had two players we hadn\u2019t seen the last time we played each other,\u201d Middletown head coach Erika Galvan said. \u201cWe weren\u2019t prepared and got off to a very slow start. In the first half none of our shots were going in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown rallied from a 10-1 halftime deficit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur defense was much better in the second half and our shots were going in,\u201d Galvan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her 17 points, Azevedo also pulled down 10 rebounds. Stella Brand added six points and some \u201cgreat defense,\u201d according to Galvan, while Sophia Perez contributed a team-best eight steals as well as five points and four rebounds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown is now 9-0 in league play and 14-2 overall.
