{"id":1890,"date":"2025-01-07T22:18:21","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T22:18:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=1890"},"modified":"2025-01-07T22:18:21","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T22:18:21","slug":"core-wrestlers-take-four-firsts-in-mtown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=1890","title":{"rendered":"CORE wrestlers take four firsts in M&#8217;town"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Holley pins all four of his opponents at New Year&#8217;s Resolution tournament<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MIDDLETOWN &gt;&gt; The CORE Wrestling Club took 17 of its members to the New Year\u2019s Resolution Tournament on Sunday in Middletown and four wrestlers came home with first-place medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winning their weight divisions were Eric Holley (8-and-under, 43-47 pounds), Amazing Pena (10-and-under, 96-104 pounds), Tucker Heywood (12-and-under, 88-94 pounds) and Wyatt Hooten (10-and-under, 55-73 pounds). Hooten pinned two opponents and beat the other by major decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe kids wrestled well considering that they were on winter break,\u201d CORE coach Danny Cuellar said. \u201cThey showed some guts out there. We\u2019re really proud of Eric Holley for doing the little things in his matches to come out with a first-place medals and four pins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bringing home second-place medals were Daniel Clark, who went 2-1 with one pin in the 12-and-under, 63-74-pound division; Tony Howland, who pinned two opponents in the middle-school, 98-108-pound division; Liliana Williams in the middle-school, 90-98-pound division; Georgia Emerson in the middle-school, 125-132-pound division; and Skyler Ramirez, including a win by pin, in the PeeWee, 41-59-pound division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Third-place honors went to Jessie Taylor Jr. (8-and-under, 45-48 pounds), who two matches by pin; to Ryan Ramirez (10-and-under, 55-73 pounds), who also had a pin; to Deegan Clark (12-and-under, 63-74 pounds); to Andrew Reams (12-and-under, 91-106 pounds), who had a pin; to Hannah Oweis (middle school, 78-83 pounds); and to Timothy Williams (67-75 pounds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finishing fourth were Kholton Downey, Timothy Williams and Ryder White Eagle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was very proud of some of our first-year wrestlers,\u201d coach Daniel Hooten said. \u201cYou can see things are starting to click for them and as a coach, that makes me happy.
