While Clear Lake\u2019s defense limited St. Bernard\u2019s to just eight points in the second quarter, the Cardinals couldn\u2019t take advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe buckled down on defense in the second quarter, but the problem was that we couldn\u2019t hit the ocean if we fell out of a boat,\u201d Cerezo said of the solitary free throw Clear Lake scored in the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Bernard\u2019s took a 31-9 lead into halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe could have just quit and let them run us out of the gym, but we kept battling in the second half,\u201d Cerezo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noah Cleaver led the Cardinals with 10 points while Ayden Moreno had eight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Upper Lake 54, Willits 30<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upper Lake secured third place with a victory over Willits.
