{"id":1667,"date":"2024-12-13T18:00:05","date_gmt":"2024-12-13T18:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=1667"},"modified":"2024-12-13T18:00:05","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T18:00:05","slug":"mcauleys-23-points-lift-cards-to-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briansumptersports.com\/?p=1667","title":{"rendered":"McAuley&#8217;s 23 points lift Cards to win"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Hawkins has double-double for Middletown in tourney win over KIPP San Jose<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lake County Sports on Facebook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CALISTOGA &gt;&gt; Zane McAuley\u2019s 23 points helped put Clear Lake High School\u2019s varsity boys basketball team back into the win column Thursday night at the Gene Duffy Holiday Classic in Calistoga as the Cardinals knocked off Buckingham Charter School of Vacaville 64-38.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe played good defense and kept the pressure on Buckingham Charter by pushing the ball on offense,\u201d Clear Lake head coach Mark Cory said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AJ Bruch finished with 14 points as the Cardinals improved to 2-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGood win for our team,\u201d Cory added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear Lake draws Summerfield Waldorf of Santa Rosa in the winner\u2019s semifinals Friday night at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other boys tournament action Thursday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Middletown 56, KIPP San Jose 34<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Petaluma, Middletown used a 33-17 second half to defeat KIPP San Jose in the opening round of the second annual Gary von Raesfeld Memorial Tournament at St. Vincent High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jon Hawkins had another big night for the Mustangs (5-1) with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals.&nbsp; Bodhi Moore added 16 points while Anthony Bowerman finished with 12 rebounds and seven points. Harrison Brown also had eight points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt took a little bit for us to wake up tonight,\u201d Middletown head coach Jake Diehl said. \u201cOnce we did the game was put out of reach for them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Middletown plays Maria Carrillo in the winner\u2019s semifinals Friday at 6:30 p.m. Redwood Christian plays tournament host St. Vincent in the other winner\u2019s semifinal at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Credo 57, Lower Lake 36<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Cloverdale, Lower Lake stayed close for a half before Credo pulled away to beat the Trojans in the opening round of the John McMillan Holiday Classic at Cloverdale High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were only down by one at half with a score of 22-21, but in the second half we made a number of turnovers and continued to fail to box out and get much needed boards on both offense and defense,\u201d Lower Lake head coach Anthony Farrington said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brody Shields, a sophomore, scored six points to lead the Trojans while senior Ivan DeLeon added five. Jonathan Ventura, Raijhier McKneeley and freshman Noah Hakala all had four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe just could not find a rhythm and make baskets in the second half,\u201d Farrington said. \u201cThe team had better ball movement tonight, but we just could not finish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower Lake (1-5) plays Anderson Valley, a 63-53 first-round loser to tournament host Cloverdale, in the consolation semifinals Friday at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Colusa JV 45, Upper Lake JV 29<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Maxwell, the Upper Lake junior varsity boys team fell 45-29 to Colusa in the opening round of the Maxwell Tournament, which runs through Saturday.
