CALISTOGA >> Led by Quinn Murray, the Middletown High School boys cross country team scored an easy win Wednesday afternoon during a North Central League I meet at the 3-mile Bothe State Park course in Calistoga, which is the home course of the St. Helena Saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the complete teams scoring at the meet, Middletown finished with 32 points, well ahead of runner-up St. Helena\u2019s 62. Fort Bragg was third with 71, Kelseyville came in fourth with 88 and Willits had 100. Lower Lake, Clear Lake and Cloverdale were incomplete (fewer than five runners).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe boys crushed it, as they have all season,\u201d Middletown head coach Taylor Tiraterra said. \u201cThe sky\u2019s the limit with them this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cole Lane of Willits, one of four runners in the field to complete the course in less than 19 minutes, topped the field at 18 minutes, 37 seconds, 11 seconds faster than Murray (18:48). Gael Lopez of Cloverdale was next at 18:56, just two seconds ahead of fourth-place finisher Ren Ueno of Middletown. Diego Sanchez of St. Helena rounded at the top five at 19:27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bryan Sanchez of Middletown placed ninth overall at 19:30 while teammate Isael Haro was 11th<\/sup> in 19:38.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joshua Fossa was Kelseyville\u2019s top runner, taking 14th<\/sup> in 20:27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Girls<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by race winner Corinna Schlatter, the St. Helena Saints edged out an understrength Middletown squad in girls team scoring 39-43. Kelseyville beat Cloverdale for third place 70-79. Fort Bragg, Willits, Lower Lake and Clear Lake were incomplete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe girls only lost by four points, and one of our key runners was injured,\u201d Tiraterra said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middletown was minus Lupita Cabrera, who rolled her ankle, but is expected back soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe\u2019s regularly our No. 4 or No. 5 runner,\u201d Tiraterra said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schlatter\u2019s time of 19:41 was the second-fastest by a girl at the Bothe State Park, well behind the record of 17:32 set by Harper McClain in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Schlatter, Elizabeth Silva of Cloverdale (21:31), Tilly Dodd of St. Helena (22:24), Malia McGrath of Cloverdale (23:10) and Cat Barriga of Middletown (23:48) had the fastest times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides Barriga, Middletown had three other runners finish in the top 10 \u2013 Nala Montgomery, sixth in 23:54; Bailey Smith, eighth in 24:33; and Jennifer Jimenez, ninth in 26:26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aylin Aguilar led Kelseyville with a 10th<\/sup>-place time of 27:29, and Angela Martin of Lower Lake finished 11th at 27:46.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
